Description
Abstract
In linguodidactics it is commonly believed that teaching a native language forms a person's linguistic personality, and teaching a foreign language forms a secondary linguistic personality. But the author of this article believes that the linguistic personality of a bilingual is indivisible and it can be said that in the case of bilingualism there is intercultural communication, interaction of languages and cultures within one linguistic personality. The mastering of a new language leads to further development and enrichment of a single linguistic personality of an individual in linguistic, cognitive, communicative aspects. In the process of learning a second language, the linguistic picture of the world of the native language is supplemented and expanded by new formations in the form of integrated cognitive structures. Bilingualism expands the boundaries of thinking and cognition, stimulates the development of internal cognitive structures that form a person's cognitive space, stimulates creativity, develops meta-linguistic abilities of a person, expands the choice of communicative means and communicative models of behavior, allows the wide use of emotional and evaluative vocabulary, etc.
