Data from: Hydrochoric seed dispersal of riparian plants follows hydrological patterns closer than geomorphic variation

Description

SeedTrapData: information that describes 18,219 seeds that were trapped during this study, and tested for viability. Seed traps were coded with LocationID’s (column K) consisting of a letter indicating River Process Domain (column M, Lake = L, Rapid = R, Slow-flowing = S), number (column N, site identity), number (column O, transect within the site, 1-5), and elevation (column P, cm elevation from the summer low water levels, 0 or 40). Each seed (named with a SeedID, column B) was planted in a certain tray (ExpTrayID, column D) that was part of a batch of trays (ExpBatchID, column C), which together makes up the SampleID (column A), to test for viability in the germination experiment. Start and end dates of stratification (columns E and F) as well as stratification duration (column G) and, similarly, germination (columns H, I and J respectively) are given. Seeds were trapped before or during the spring flood of 2018 (column L, PreSpringflood and Springflood) and identified to the species level (column Q). If a seed germinated (column R), date of germination (column S) and number of days until germination (column T) are given.

 

GerminationData: information that describes abundance (column G) and presence (column H, yes = 1, no = 0) of seeds trapped in this study. Data is sorted per seed trap, each with a site identity (column D), transect number within the site (column E) and elevation on which the trap is placed (column F, cm elevation from the summer low water levels). Seeds were trapped before or during the spring flood of 2018 (column B), in three types of River Process Domains (RPDs; column C) and identified to the species levels (column A).
