Statistical analysis of white dwarfs' properties and new white dwarfs from Gaia

White Dwarfs (WDs) are extremely important for understanding the kinematics and dynamics of the local stellar population. They are evolutionary signatures of the Milky Way, as most of stars pass through this evolutionary stage. There are some 14,294 objects in the Catalogue of Spectroscopically Identified WDs (McCook & Sion, 2016), however, most of them lack data related to their physical properties. By statistical analysis of the available data establish the ranges and average physical properties for WDs to further apply for new objects to identify WDs among them. Gaia’s astrometric accuracy allows more detailed studies of WDs and many other stars. Gaia DR2 contains astrometric results for > 1.7 billion stars with < 20.7 and parallaxes/distances for 1.3 billion objects. We have cross-correlated the Catalogue of Spectroscopically Identified WDs with Gaia DR2 and obtained absolute magnitudes, luminosities and Teff for WDs. This allowed better understanding of the statistical properties of WDs, as well as a search for many new WDs has been accomplished based on Gaia accurate astrometric data. HR diagram has been built for objects having absolute magnitudes and colors and WDs have been distinguished. We have used Gaia data also for variability studies.
