Description
To investigate gasocrine signaling, there is a critical need to identify gas-sensing proteins (gasoreceptors) and nucleic acids (riboceptors, deoxyriboceptors) for the essential gasotransmitters such as oxygen (O2) and other non-essential gasotransmitters. Moreover, if the RNA world hypothesis is true, then one of the first gas-sensing biomolecules is potentially RNA (either riboswitches or riboceptors), since gases probably existed before the first RNA molecule, and RNA probably did not form in a vacuum. Furthermore, it is unclear how much “control” gasoreceptors and gasoriboceptors have in a cell. In the light of my theoretical proposal of riboceptors, the experimental identification of gasoriboceptors is essential not only to resolve the existential crisis of the RNA world hypothesis, but also the gasocrine hypotheses.
