Description

This is the abstract for the DEEP Reflections Model - a modernised model of reflective practice I designed to support learners in developing reflective practice skills for academic and professional purposes. It has initially been integrated into curriculum and assigment options for undergraduate and postgraduate students on healthcare degree programmes at London South Bank University, United Kingdom. It has since been developed as an adaptive framework in reflective practice involving Generative AI, and also expanded for use at other UK Universities for a range of different user profiles (students & staff) and settings (academic, professional , mentorship, placement activities, workplace activities).

It has been developed by an Autistic academic, rationalised from both an accessibility & participation perspective, and a decolonising curriculum perspective, with a structural design to support modernising academic competency weightings in written assessments, supporting students with additional needs to complete written assignments, whilst enabling alternative and inclusive assessment frameworks to be developed as part of any assessment requiring reflective practice as a contributing factor towards the assessment outcomes. The additional adaptations and developments have demonstrated the power of this model for a broad range of activities, and the range is expanding all the time!

The abstract is to finally start the process of full publication of the model with the accompanying data (quantiative and qualitative) needed to prove the concept locally, the transferability and adaptability, and a strategy to test the concept for broader generalisability (education and practice) and cross-sector transferability (other education and practice sectors)
