TO ESTIMATE THE MAGNITUDE OF BLINDNESS AND VISUAL IMPAIRMENT AND CAUSES OF BLINDNESS IN TRIBAL AREAS OF GUJARAT AND MAHARASHTRA STATES
Description
The prevalence of blindness in India is 0.36% according to the NPCB & VI 2019 survey.
However, there is limited data on the extent of avoidable causes of blindness among tribal populations.
Conducting a situational analysis is essential for planning improved eye care services at the base
hospital. Gaining insight into the prevalence of cataracts and other vision-related issues among
individuals aged over 50 in the area will help design and implement community-based programs
more effectively and with greater focus.
