El presente trabajo analiza los resultados de una investigación arqueológica del sitio Antükura de Bahía Coique, en el sur de Chile, que alberga el único calendario solar lítico documentado hasta ahora en el territorio mapuche. La datación por termoluminiscencia (TL) de fragmentos de cerámica proporciona una fecha de ocupación entre 1210 y 1525 DC. A través del estudio de sus funciones calendáricas y ceremoniales discutimos la antigüedad de los patrones de organización espaciotemporal vigentes en la cultura mapuche, configurados a partir de principios comunes entre las culturas del espacio andino central.
Abstract (English)
This paper analyzes the results of an archaeological investigation of the Antükura site at Bahía Coique, in southern Chile, which hosts the only lithic solar calendar documented till now in Mapuche territory. Thermoluminescence (TL) dating of ceramic fragments provides a date of occupation between AD 1210 and 1525. Through the study of its calendrical and ceremonial functions, we discuss the antiquity of the current patterns of spatiotemporal organization in Mapuche culture, configured from common principles among the cultures of the central Andean region.
