Description

Diarrhoea-related Diseases are on the rise in Cameroon. This is peculiar in the Nyong River Plateau of Akonolinga, located in the Centre region of the country. Pathogen development and transmissions in the environment together with human interference, animal and ecosystems interactions, create hotspot for health outbreaks. It is in this view that we investigated the socioeconomic of environmental factors causing diarrhoea-related diseases.

Using a structured questionnaire, we found out that the environmental risk factors associated with these diseases were; farming, fishing, family size of 5 to 10 people and availability of drinking water.

Inorder to build safe communities and environments, community engagement and collaboration of various actors in One Health is of key importance.
