Description
Preprint submitted to RENEW 2024 conference.
GICON currently designing the 5th generation Tension Leg Platform (TLP), an advancement in offshore floating wind energy generation system, as part of the European Union’s Horizon Europe project INF4INiTY. This project, aiming to develop “nature-inclusive design” solutions for floating wind farms and that can be scalable, allowing for easy modification of design features to meet specific environmental and operational requirements. Different types of anchoring solutions are investigated and tailored to the specific seabed characteristics. Further enhancing its sustainability, the TLP integrates an innovative artificial reef structure, fostering marine biodiversity and promoting ecosystem restoration. Adaptability is crucial, as the INF4INITY project seeks solutions for diverse European offshore conditions. GICON’s TLP system designed in this regard, boasting a modular design that can be customized to meet the specific demands, and design parameters that are considered for designing both the floater and anchoring system are presented along with a preliminary design.
