Description

Abstract (English)

This study presents a review on musical preferences within the MUSIC framework, encompassing Mellow, Unpretentious, Sophisticated, Intense, and Contemporary dimensions. The literature indicates that musical factors are linked to emotional attributes and personality traits, including Openness to Experience, Extraversion, and Conscientiousness. Music associated with the Mellow dimension correlates positively with Agreeableness and Conscientiousness, while the Unpretentious factor relates to Extraversion and Conscientiousness. The Sophisticated category reflects high Openness to Experience, whereas the Intense dimension, characterized by aggressive sounds, shows negative correlations with Conscientiousness. Additionally, musical preferences vary significantly across cultural contexts. Although associations between personality traits and musical preferences are evident, they often exhibit weak correlations, highlighting the need for further empirical research in diverse cultural settings.
