Development and impact analysis of ground motion datasets for potential strong-to-great seismic scenarios in Chinese mainland

Description

Ground motion scenario data is essential for assessing earthquake disaster losses and serves as a foundational element for collaborative, multi-disciplinary seismic risk analysis and regional disaster prevention.  This study identified 50 potential seismogenic locations based on seismic hazard zoning data, supported by geological and seismological evidence.  Four magnitudes (Mw 6.5, Mw 7.0, Mw 7.5, and Mw 8.0) were selected according to potential damage levels, ultimately establishing 200 seismic scenarios. The dataset, including peak ground acceleration (PGA), peak ground velocity (PGV), and seismic intensity, was generated using a robust GMPE previously validated in emergency responses. That provides useful support for disaster prevention, mitigation, and urban planning, making it suitable for many analytical needs.

Note: This is a simulation of earthquake scenarios on high-risk seismic faults, designed to assist decision-makers in taking proactive measures to mitigate the impact of potential earthquakes. It also provides a set of usable data resources for relevant researchers. Please do not use these data to generate or disseminate misinformation!
