entre sonhos, infâncias e a educação: as filosofias africanas

  • 1. Universidade de Brasília

Description

Abstract (English)

This paper discusses the contributions of African philosophies to anti-racist education in Brazil, especially considering childhood. Based on Law 10.639/2003, which mandates the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian history and culture in basic education, this paper emphasizes the importance of not only including content but also repositioning education itself, drawing inspiration from African ancestral knowledge. Childhood is seen as a moment of connection with ancestry, where the child is an active part of the community and a bearer of its wisdom. African philosophies emphasize a community-based education, where the upbringing of children involves the entire collective, not limited to the transmission of formal knowledge but also to the strengthening of affective and social bonds, always in dialogue with tradition and the collective.
