Description

Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming an increasingly essential part of medicine today and will continue to grow in its applications to the field. Typical applications of AI in medicine include patient diagnosis, drug research and discovery, improving patient-physician interactions, transcribing medical records and prescriptions, and providing remote treatment. Contemporary algorithms and techniques have achieved accuracy levels comparable to those of human specialists or better and often perform tasks more swiftly. It may only be a matter of time before AI will replace humans in specific medical roles. This article examines how AI is used in the modern day medical field and what the future of medicine and AI will likely evolve into. This study finds that AI is set to be the new physician’s assistant and even replace the role of the physician in certain contexts.
