VIRTUAL GALLERY. A Nexus of Artistic Practice and Research

The poster illustrates the intersection of art, research methods, and technological innovation within the digital humanities. The virtual Blue Point Art Gallery in London (BPA) serves as a multi-purpose space for creative expression, scholarly documentation, educational outreach, and community events. Utilising interactive 3D graphics accessible through web browsers, BPA enables seamless interaction between artists, researchers, and the public without the need for additional applications. BPA uses WebGL (JavaScript, HTML, CSS) to present gallery events and ZOOM for exhibition-based gatherings. This initiative highlights the benefits of art and exhibitions in the humanities, demonstrating the potential of virtual galleries to foster global cooperation, democratise research, and enhance the art experience. Findings suggest that virtual galleries and AR significantly improve access to scholarly output, cultural heritage, and art, while promoting international collaboration and understanding. These insights advocate for the integration of technology into creative practices. In contrast to commercial galleries, BPA focuses on broader research collaborations with universities and institutes, aiming to publish research outcomes.
