Database for speed-dependent road-traffic vehicle directivity patterns

  • 1. RWTH Aachen University

Description

A dataset of road-traffic vehicle directivity patterns for virtual acoustics and noise mapping applications from the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics (IHTA), RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

Supplementary material for publication: C. Dreier and M. Vorländer (2025). Speed-dependent directivity patterns of road-traffic vehicles. In: The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 157(4), pp. 2735–2749, DOI: https://doi.org/10.1121/10.0036382

This database contains speed-dependent directivity patterns of 6 passenger cars and a motorcycle in a driving speed range between 10 and 120 km/h. The data are provided using SOFA (Spatially Oriented Format for Acoustics) and OpenDAFF formats. Both, normalized as well as absolute sound pressure levels are provided. See "Readme.pdf" for more details.

The work leading to producing the dataset and related research was supported by the HEAD-Genuit Foundation under project grant number P-22/02-W.
