Description
Stress urinary incontinence (SUI) is a condition associated with signs or symptoms characterized by the involuntary loss of urine that occurs when physical forces on the bladder increase during body movement. One in three women will suffer from SUI in her lifetime, and if left untreated it can affect quality of life, causing distress, frustration and limitation of sexual relations. In this case we evaluated the effectiveness of the Luksenburg Systems technique in the management of SUI in a 62-year-old female patient with vulvovaginal varicocele; she came to the clinic because she presented involuntary urine emission on exertion during continuous sexual intercourse. Marshall-Bonney test was performed, with Valsalva maneuvers, reporting urine leakage. Urodynamic study reported SUI grade III. A short-answer questionnaire on female urinary tract symptoms (ICIQ-UISF) was administered to evaluate the severity of SUI (result 14 points). The Luksenburg Systems technique procedure was performed to treat grade III SUI, applying several steps for the placement of threads and GYCO Platelet Rich Plasma, subsequently the patient was evaluated at 40 days, 6 months, 1 year and 18 months, obtaining 2 points in the ICIQ-UISF; currently, a reduction of urethral hypermotility and significant improvement of urinary incontinence was determined. It was concluded that the Luksenburg System technique for the management of grade III SUI is effective, fast, without risks for the patient.
