The Colorful Effects of Positive Reinforcement to the Learning of Kindergarten Learners: The Journey of a Kindergarten Teacher

This study aimed to describe the colorful experiences of kindergarten teachers in applying techniques in positive reinforcement to kindergarten learners. The participants were the ten kindergarten teachers in Arakan West District, Doroluman Arakan Cotabato, utilizing phenomenological design to explore their colorful experiences. A semi- structured interview guide was used to gather the data. Ethical considerations were observed in data collection. The themes were extracted using thematic content analysis. The findings were: diversity of learners’ needs, behavioral management, transition periods, and development of core values are the experiences of kindergarten teachers; their coping mechanisms with the challenges encountered are consistency in application, use of verbal praise, use of complimenting gesture, enforce reward system, impose individualized reinforcement, celebrate small success, and employ reflective practice; and individualization and specification is key, emphasis on intrinsic motivation, heighten flexibility and adaptability, establish positive classroom culture, and adopt holistic teaching approach are the educational management insights. The recommendation advanced included creating and communicating clear regulations by the Department of Education that encourage the use of positive reinforcement practices in early childhood education. Ensure that policies are consistent with best practices and provide a framework for their implementation across schools.
