Description

The World Data System Early Career Researchers (WDS-ECR) Network strives to foster an international mosaic of emerging scientists dedicated not only to data-driven disciplines but also actively engaged with developing innovative approaches to data management, advocating for seamless integration and sharing of information, and contributing to enhanced scientific data repositories. Our commitment goes beyond fostering multicultural engagement; we actively facilitate leadership development by providing early career scientists with the opportunity to serve in a representative capacity within the WDS Scientific Committee. Through this, we help shape the next generation of leaders in research data stewardship. Our membership is global and diverse, with robust representation across various academic fields—including a strong contingent from geosciences—embodying our dedication to cross-disciplinary integration. The WDS-ECR poster spotlights the range of resources our network offers: recognition through prestigious awards like the WDS Data Stewardship Award, skill enhancement via specialized webinars that provide comprehensive training, opportunities for professional exposure by sharing personal work and successes, and the facilitation of global partnerships at networking events. This presentation aims not just to outline these benefits but also to demonstrate how involvement with the WDS-ECR Network can activate researchers' potential at crucial stages in their careers. We are building a dynamic community that upholds data management excellence and fervently promotes open science principles—a community where every member is empowered to contribute meaningfully toward building resilient and inclusive communities.
