Realizing Intent-driven Network Management with TM Forum Standards

Description
This paper details the realization of Intent-driven Management with TM Forum standards. As networks become more autonomous, a key challenge is balancing customer needs with network and resource operations. Intent-based networking (IBN) offers a solution by abstracting service expectations and implementation complexities. We propose an architecture for IBN that follows the TM Forum Intent representation generated using LLMs. The architecture includes the Service Intent Manager, Network-Compute Fabric, and Resource Infrastructure, each playing a critical role in transforming natural language business requests into actionable network tasks. We implemented this architecture and tested it by orchestrating video streaming services on a Kubernetes platform. The results demonstrate how IBN architecture supports the seamless translation of user intents into network operations, enabling autonomous network management and enhancing service provision across diverse domains.
