Reconstructed garden gallery of the Granvelle Palace in Brussels

  • 1. ROR icon KU Leuven

Description

The garden gallery of Archbishop Antoine Perrenot de Granvelle (1517-1586) in his Palace in Brussels is recognized as one of the most outstanding examples of Renaissance Architecture in the Low Countries. Ir-Arch. Vincent Vanhamme and Prof. Krista De Jonge reconstructed this lost gallery using scarce historical sources and BIM (GRAPHISOFT Archicad 27), precisely accommodating The Gardens of Granvelle tapestry series (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, 1564) within a margin of only a few centimeters.
