Time-lapse observation and predictive modeling of aureobasidium pullulans growth
Authors/Creators
Description
Aureobasidium pullulans a ubiquitos yeast-like fungus, possesses charactiristics, such as bioflims formation and digestion of various nutrients. Current reseach on microbial biofilm focuses predominantly on preventing biofilm formation while leaving their protective applications unexplored. The utilization of A. pullulans as a living component in a nature-inspired coating system offers an alternative approach to perserve the desired properties and functionality of materials against biotic and abiotc degradation. A comperhensive understanding of fungal growth mechanisms and biofilm formation is essential for the development of technically applicable, controlled and optimised biofilms that can effectively protect the surfaces of various substrates.
