EU Wide Disaggregated CAPRI Model Data: Crops, Livestock, Nitrogen In- and Outputs (Timeseries 2000-2018)

The data set was derived by disaggregating regional CAPRI model output to so-called Farm Structure Units (FSU). FSUs are spatial units of varying size between 1 km2 and 100 km2, with median size of 11 km2.

The data set was created for the purpose of assessing spatially explicit farmland management intensity in Europe and its impact on the environment. 

The data is distributed as 1km x 1km *.tif raster files for EU member states (excluding Croatia) and UK as annual files for the time period 2000 - 2018. 

The following parameters are available:

• Delineation of the Farm Structure Units (FSU)
• Area and yield for 37 crop activities
• Livestock densities for 17 livestock activities
• Livestock densities for the categories: non grazing livestock, livestock grazing within utilized agricultural area, livestock extensively grazing outside utilized agricultural area
• Area available for extensive grazing outside utilized agricultural area
• N inputs to the utilized agricultural area from: atmospheric deposition, crop residues. biological fixation, manure applied to the field, manure deposited by grazing animals, mineral fertilizer
• N removal by harvest (product and residues removed from the field)
• N losses (gaseous emissions and run-off) from: manure management systems, manure application and manure deposited by grazing animals, mineral fertilizer application
• N soil surplus
• N deposited by extensively grazing livestock outside utilized agricultural area
• Background data for the calculation of extensive grazing outside utilized agricultural area

The raster files (and additional data) are grouped thematically into .zip packages. Please consult the "readme_first.txt" file, which provides an overview about the content of the individual packages. Each package is accompanied by a "readme_zipfilename.txt", detailing the naming conventions and contents of the single files of the package.
