Green Library: An Overview

Abstract:

The role of library is very big during world affairs. Libraries are platforms for lifelong learning and provide the information and knowledge needed by the users. The concept of green library is more recent i.e. the early 1990s and the green library movement started as libraries became interested in environmental issues. The concept of green library is gradually gaining popularity among academicians and library professionals worldwide. During the green library movement, literature o green libraries began to develop, and as a result, public awareness of the topic began to emerge. In this research paper, green libraries, green building, green movement, structure of green library, green libraries and activities in India and outside India, benefits of green libraries and impact of green libraries on future generation are all discussed
