Description
The Ranunculus auricomus complex (Ranunculaceae) in North Tyrol - Additions and description of a new species Ranunculus mediovarians spec. nova
The Ranunculus auricomus aggregate of North Tyrol actually consists of four populations belonging to three species: apart from the still existing population of the type locality, a second one of R. sarntheinianus Dunkel was detected in the surroundings of Seefeld/Tyrol. A new site close to Völs, Upper Inn Valley, was attributed to R. variabilis Hörandl & Gutermann. A population from Wörgl, Lower Inn Valley, was described and depicted as R. mediovarians spec. nova. This new species is characterized by a variable middle segment of the spring leaves and a closed aperture of final leaves. All populations of North Tyrol are highly vulnerable or at risk of extinction.
