Description

The ZooScan (HYDROPTIC Inc.), in association with the Zooprocess application, is an imaging system for the analysis of organisms and particles (300µm - 5cm, possibly 150 - 5cm using specific settings) present in a liquid. It is suitable for meso- (0.2 - 2cm) and macro-planktonic (2 - 20cm) organisms that must be immobile (fixed or anesthetized).

The Villefranche-sur-Mer Quantitative Imaging Platform has analyzed more than 400 projects using the ZooScan since its invention. As a result of this long experience, the PIQv has implemented analysis and quality control procedures. The aim of this manual is to present these rules and to highlight best practices for guaranteeing data quality and the best use of the associated EcoTaxa application for the annotations of images.
