Nature-based Solutions for wastewater reuse and storage capacity improvement of water infrastructures in agriculture

Description

Nature-based Solutions (NbS) are essential for the restoration and management of freshwater ecosystems. They leverage natural processes to address environmental and social challenges, providing vital services such as water storage and purification, flood control, and biodiversity conservation. Overexploitation of water for agriculture is a significant threat to these ecosystems. Implementing NbS can increase water availability for agriculture and reduce the use of conventional water resources. In this context, NATMed project aims to design, implement and validate several NbS to optimize water-related and water dependent ecosystem services in the Mediterranean Basin.
