Utilization of open-source data and tools for assessing hydropower generation

This study aims to investigate the relationship between hydroelectric power plants producing energy and heavy rainfall. We selected hydropower plants from Samsun in Turkey. We collected the total hourly rainfall data from the NOAA data store website. The hydropower plant production data covers the period (2001-2023) consistent with rainfall data. The Pearson correlation method, one of the most preferred methods for the relationship, was found to be suitable for this study. The study resulted in correlation and, if any, trend analysis. We further propose this method for other regions.
