Description

Lymphoma is a general term for cancer that starts in the lymph system (Mugnaini EN et al., 2016). There are two categories of lymphoma (Radiol Am et al., 2008): Hodgkin’s lymphoma and Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

The American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) recognizes two major categories of Hodgkin lymphoma (Matasar et al., 2008): 1) classic Hodgkin lymphoma (95%) and 2) nodular lymphocyte-predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (5%). Although its general prognosis is favorable, 10%–30% of patients with classic Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) will ultimately develop relapsed or refractory disease (Ansell SM et al., 2015). A stem cell transplant complemented with high-dose chemotherapy is the main treatment used for relapsed cHL (Potre O et al., 2021).
