Description
Multi-physics IP inversion has proven to be a valuable tool in mining exploration. It provides a more consistent resistivity and an enhanced resolution IP model. This approach might become more common with the advancement of freely available software that allows joint inversion of both MT and IP datasets. In this paper we are going to present the result of a multi-physics IP inversion from data acquired over the AMSA's Ecuentro CuAu-Mo porphyry deposit. This deep IP dataset was acquired by GRS during 2007 and 2008 and the 2D sections modelled at that time were of crucial importance to targeting and discovering the Encuentro deposit. A comparison between 2D, 3D and 2D CSEM-MT IP inversion models shows that the multi-physics IP inversion offers more detail and exhibits a better correspondence with important geological units in the deposit.
