Finger Millet Production Guide

Description

Finger Millet is an important cereal and stable food of much of eastern, northern and western Uganda. Storability and high nutritive value of the grain, as well as drought tolerance, make this crop a suitable cereal for food security in the dry lands.

This step by step guide for quality production of Finger millet was developed as part of the project W2A-PR-115-Uganda "Strengthening Seed Delivery System for Dryland Cereals and Legumes in Drought-prone Areas of Uganda" supported in the third project cycle of Benefit Sharing Fund (BSF) of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations (UN) with support from European Union. The guide aims to train farmers in promoting good agronomic practices as well as postharvest handling and pesticide safety to increase production of this resilient crop.
