Basionym: Pleurothallis subgen. Aenigma Luer (1986: 26). ≡ Andinia subgen. Aenigma (Luer) Karremans & Mark Wilson in Wilson et al. (2017: 121).
Generitype: Aletheia schizopogon (Luer) Z.H.Feng
Etymology: The new generic name derives from Aletheia, one of the Greek gods who represents the truth, in allusion to both part of the taxonomic and nomenclatural issues of these taxa are defogged.
