Description

Precision measurements of permanent electric dipole moments (EDM) are among the most sensitive methods for exploring physics beyond the Standard Model of particle physics, particularly regarding charge-parity (CP) violation. The international nEDM collaboration at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) aims to search for the neutron EDM with a sensitivity an order of magnitude higher than the current best-measured limit of 1.8×10−26 e cm, which was measured by our collaboration [1]. Our new n2EDM apparatus [2] set up at the ultracold neutron source at PSI has now entered its commissioning phase.
This talk will present an overview of the experiment and preliminary results from the recent commissioning measurements with the new apparatus.
