Headache disorders: a systematic literature review of current understanding and management strategies

Abstract

      Headache disorders are among the most prevalent and debilitating neurological conditions, affecting millions of individuals worldwide and leading to significant disruptions in daily life and overall well-being. This systematic review aims to critically evaluate the current understanding and management strategies for the most common types of headache disorders, including migraine, tension-type headache, sinus headache, cluster headache, cervicogenic headache, and headaches associated with thyroid dysfunction. Each of these conditions presents unique challenges in diagnosis and treatment, often having a profound impact on an individual's quality of life, productivity, and mental health. By synthesizing the latest research and clinical practices, this review seeks to identify effective strategies for managing these diverse and complex headache disorders. The ultimate goal is to enhance clinical outcomes and improve the quality of life for those affected, while also identifying areas where further research is needed to address gaps in current knowledge.
