Whole-genome sequencing of a metalloprotease-producing Bacillus bingmayongensis strain BUPM19 with promising insecticidal activities.

Description

The whole genome shotgun sequencing (WGS) of a Bacillus strain (BUPM19) isolated from Tunisian soil is presented in this study. The strain was selected based on its capacity to produce the metalloprotease inhA which exhibits activity against lepidopteran insects. Based on the MLST classification, BUPM19 was identified as a member of the Bacillus cereus group, and more specifically, as a Bacillus bingmayongensis strain. The whole genetic sequence of this strain will shed light on the functions of important genes involved in its ability to produce metalloproteases and its biological defense mechanism against insect pests.
