Description
The DMP is focused on exploration of skeletal transformations of beta-caryophyllene, one of most accessible sesquiterpenes. This abundant natural product possesses cyclobutane and E-cyclononene fragments, which have an intrinsic aptitude to form other scaffolds under various reaction conditions. The aim of this DMP is to provide a scalable route to more exotic biologically active congeners of beta-caryophyllene (chlorinated hemiketals rumphellatins A-C and rumphellclovanes A-E).
