Sami Chidambaranar was born on December 1, 1900 at Kadakam near Mayiladuthurai as the son of Saminatha Malayaman and Kamalampal. He received the title of 'Pandithar' in 1923 from Madurai Tamil Sangam. He was involved in the justice party and later in the self-respect movement.
