Description

ABSTRACT Data were acquired utilizing three cameras at the UK Infrared Telescope (UKIRT) from 2003 to 2007. Observations in the K-band were performed with the UKIRT Fast-Track Imager (UFTI) over three consecutive nights in August 2005. Additionally, Wide Field Camera (WFCAM) data in the J and H bands were collected between 2005 and 2007. Furthermore, K-band data from the University of Edinburgh Infrared Survey Telescope (UIST) for the central region of M33 were obtained from 2003 to 2007. This study concentrates on stars in the final stages of their evolutionary processes, where luminosity is more closely correlated with initial mass. By integrating data from various instruments and projects, our objective is to identify long-period variable stars in the central region of the galaxy, as this area allows for the most thorough and in-depth investigation of the galactic center due to the quality of the data. The identification of variable stars will involve photometric analysis of the WFCAM data, including Point Spread Function (PSF) calibration, followed by a comprehensive re-evaluation of the dataset.
