FORMULATION AND EVALUATION OF SUPPOSITORIES CONTAINING ANTI-FUNGAL DRUGS LOADED WITH NANOPARTICLES

The development of effective antifungal therapies remains a critical challenge in medical science, particularly for patients with localized fungal infections. This study focuses on the formulation and evaluation of suppositories containing antifungal drugs incorporated with nanoparticles to enhance therapeutic efficacy and bioavailability. The research involved the preparation of suppositories using a range of antifungal agents, such as ketoconazole and fluconazole, which were loaded onto nanoparticles to improve drug release and absorption. Various nanoparticle carriers, including liposomes and polymeric nanoparticles, were utilized to optimize drug delivery. The suppositories were formulated through a process of melting and molding, ensuring uniform distribution of the active ingredients. Comprehensive evaluations included physicochemical characterization, drug release studies, and antifungal efficacy tests. Results demonstrated that the incorporation of nanoparticles significantly improved the solubility and stability of the antifungal drugs, leading to enhanced bioavailability and prolonged release profiles. The antifungal activity of the nanoparticle-loaded suppositories was superior compared to traditional formulations, suggesting a promising approach for treating localized fungal infections. This study highlights the potential of nanoparticle-enhanced suppositories in advancing antifungal therapy, offering a targeted and efficient treatment modality for patients.
