Description
Nitzschia distans Gregory (1857: 530) (Fig. 92)

Features: Length 78–110 μm, width 7–8 μm, fibulae irregular, 2–3 in 10 μm, striae 30 in 10 μm.
Description: Valves linear lanceolate with acutely rounded apices. In girdle view, frustules appear with inflated ends. Raphe central, fibulae coarse, unevenly spaced.
Ecology and Distribution: Widely distributed species. Previously reported from the Gulf (Al-Yamani & Saburova 2011). Frequent in Basra corals.
