Doryopteris rediviva Fee, Crypt. Vasc.

Description

Doryopteris rediviva Fée, Crypt. Vasc. Brésil 2: 30, t. 89, fig. 1.1872.

Protologue citation: “Habitat in Brasillia fluminensi (Tijuca, Glaziou n. 5341)”.

Lectotype (designated here):— BRAZIL. [Rio de Janeiro]: “Rio [de Janeiro] a Tijuca”, Glaziou 5341 (P00507800!; isolectotypes: P [3 sheets]!, B 20 051586!; possible isolectotype: C!).

Four specimens of Glaziou 5341 at P are referable to this species and all agree with the protologue. However, the lectotype chosen here is the only one which bears Fée’s original label with the species name written by Fée. This sheet has three plants with rhizomes (two on the upper part of the sheet and one more depauperate plant in the middle of the lower part; there are also five leaves distributed around the sheet). The specimen housed at C has only collector’s name and number (similar to many other cases throughout this paper), however, in this occasion, the label has different handwriting style of that from the lectotype and/or other collections (isolectoypes), making it difficult to assure that this specimen is part of the same gathering. Therefore, it has been considered as possible isolectotype.
