40. Caroxylon glabrescens (Burtt Davy) Akhani & E.H.Roalson in Int. J. Plant Sci. 168(6): 947 (2007).

Basionym: Salsola glabrescens Burtt Davy in Man. Flow. Pl. & Ferns Transvaal 1: 50: 177 (1926).

Type: SOUTH AFRICA. Near Bloemhoef, 4100 ft. elev., 12 February 1904, Burtt Davy 1496 (holotype K-000243951!; isotypes PRE-0370836-0!, PRE-0592860-0!, PRE-0592861-0!).

Distribution: Botswana: southern Kalahari; Namibia? (see Aellen, 1967); South Africa (NW, FS, NC): widely distributed in eastern Bushmanland, eastern Upper Karoo, salt pan regions of western Free State and adjacent North-West Province.
