Terrestrial shrubs. Distribution in PILA 0–2000 m, low elevation mixed forest, mixed forest in transition to low elevation forest, mixed forest in transition to cloud forest, cloud forest. Global distribution: Mexico to Paraguay. Records: K. E. Blum 2637 (MO), R. Villalobos 248 (INB). Uses: medicinal.
