Light grey shading = Gariep desert vegetation; mid-grey shading = Succulent Karoo vegetation; dark grey shading = Renosterveld vegetation (Mucina & Rutherford 2006); Oxalis canaliculata var. canaliculata = pure white circles; O. canaliculata var. graniticola = white circle with central black dot; O. canaliculata var. trifoliolata = black circle; O. magnifolia var. magnifolia = black triangles; and O. magnifolia var. reduplicata = white triangles.
