White arrows indicate the location of the Didymosphenia laticollis bloom observation on a map (A) and on the photo (B) which is taken from the western shore of the southern part of the Lake Hövsgöl. Macroscopic aspect of the bloom on the lake margin (C–D). Comparison between the two stations on opposing shores: one affected by the bloom (E), and one without bloom, where the Didymosphenia species new-to-science (D. mongolica) was found (F).
