Description
Type: — INDIA. Himachal Pradesh: Bilaspur, on bark of Tecoma stans, 17 September 2013, I. B. Prasher and R. K. Verma (PAN 30364! holotype).
Differs from Dictyosporium manglietiae in that the conidia are not complanate and from D. gauntii in that the appendages are supra-basal.
Colonies on the natural substratum conspicuous, black, scattered in the form of compact sporodochia. Sporodochia 120–240 μm in diameter. Conidiophores hyaline, thin-walled, short. Conidia (26–)30–33(–35) × 14–17 μm, cylindrical in lateral view, clavate, cheiroid in ventral view, smooth-walled, uniformly medium brown, consisting of a subhyaline, cubical, truncate basal cell 5–7 μm in diameter, on which 7 discrete, vertical rows of cells are inserted in different plane; each row contains 5–6(–7) cells; each arm is 4–6 μm wide, 4–5(–6) septate, cells in each row range from (4–)5–6 × 4–5(–6) μm. Conidia bears 1–3, hyaline, thin-walled, aseptate, supra-basal appendages, (11–)12–15(–17) × (8–)9–14(–15) μm.
Habitat/Distribution: —Saprobic on bark of Tecoma stans (L.) Juss. ex Kunth (Bignoniaceae), Himachal Pradesh, India.
Etymology: —In honour of Prof. Kevin D. Hyde who has contributed immensely to the understanding of anamorphic fungi.
