Thymus thracicus Velen. var. byzantinus Ronniger in Hayek (1930: 347)
Type (lectotype, designated here):— TURKEY: Thracia. In agri byzantini: valle Kiaghad—Chané, 26 Mai 1890, Degen s.n. ( W 1991-0001701!; image of the lectotype is available at http://herbarium.univie.ac.at/database/detail. php? ID =159086).
Protologue citation:—“Thara. Byzantium”.
Taxonomic notes:— Thymus thracicus var. byzantinus is considered as a variant with a short-calyx of Th. thracicus Velen.
