LISA - The Italian XAS Beamline at ESRF: current status and future perspectives.
Authors/Creators
Description
The LISA (Linea Italiana per la Spettroscopia di Assorbimento di raggi X) beamline at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) represents a significant advancement in the field of applied synchrotron radiation spectroscopy. This beamline is dedicated to X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and related techniques. Equipped with a bending magnet source of the new ESRF-EBS storage ring, the beamline allows detailed investigations of the structural properties of materials at the atomic level, addressing critical scientific questions in diverse fields such as materials science, chemistry, physics, cultural heritage and environmental science.
In this contribution we will present the current status and the recent updates from the beamline. In particular we report an improved version of the data reduction software and the development of a scan routine for acquiring X-ray fluorescence maps. Furthermore, we will present the development of a new code for fluorescence data post-treatment which allows to set new ROIs in the emission spectrum and recreate a XAS spectrum. As ongoing projects and future perspectives we report the creation of a database of XAS spectra of reference compounds from the archives of the beamline and the foreseen migration to the new BLISS beamline control environment with the implementation of new electronics for the fluorescence detector.
