Simple Prior Omics Network GEnerator (SPONGE) and prior networks generated with default settings

This repository contains the GitHub repository of the SPONGE package version 2.2.0, which can be used to generate prior gene regulatory networks and the corresponding protein-protein interaction networks between the transcription factors present in the regulatory networks.

In addition to the repository, it also contains the prior networks generated by SPONGE for three releases of the JASPAR database (2026, 2024, and 2022) and two different settings for gene identification (gene names and Ensembl IDs). Log files detailing the versions of the databases used and the accession times are also present.

The code for the SPONGE package is available under the GPL 3.0 license. The prior networks are available under the CC BY 4.0 license.
