Torrey Canyon Disaster

Description

The largest calamity to occur at that time was the Torrey Canyon calamity. It devastated the areas close to the coast as well as the marine biota's habitat. It affects the marine ecology in a number of ways. This article describes the events leading up to the Torrey Canyon Disaster, the harm it caused to the surrounding ecosystem and species, and the legislation put in place to lessen or alleviate the impacts of oil pollution.
