The Utilization of Plastic Waste in Indonesia to Improve Low-Cost Housing
Authors/Creators
Description
Abstract
This research paper explores the potential of utilizing recycled plastic in low-cost housing construction as a solution for waste management and a path toward sustainable development in Indonesia. We investigate Indonesia's primary sources of plastic waste generation and the environmental, health, and economic consequences of plastic pollution. By analyzing current plastic waste generation statistics and comparing the costs of conventional and recycled plastic construction materials, we assess the financial feasibility of this approach. We also explore several approaches to specific plastic alternatives in construction and a comparative analysis of each approach. We then identify specific applications and uses for these approaches. We conclude by summarizing the essential findings and highlighting the potential of this approach for tackling Indonesia's plastic waste crisis and achieving sustainable development goals.
